Welcome to Steps to Healing

For more than 30 years, I have dedicated my career to supporting individuals, families, and communities through the complexities of mental health and emotional wellbeing. My work has taken me across a wide range of clinical, community, and therapeutic settings, giving me a deep understanding of how people heal, grow, and reclaim their sense of self.

Steps to Healing is the integration of everything I’ve learned over three decades — evidence‑informed training, hands‑on experience, and a genuine belief in each person’s capacity for change.

My mission is to provide compassionate, person‑centred support that empowers individuals and families to heal, grow, and reclaim their sense of wellbeing. Through evidence‑informed practice, deep listening, and genuine human connection, I strive to create a safe and respectful space where people feel seen, valued, and supported as they navigate life’s challenges. I am committed to walking alongside each person with integrity, empathy, and hope, fostering resilience and meaningful change one step at a time.

I provide counselling and psychotherapy for people across all stages of life, drawing from a rich integration of approaches, including:

  • Narrative Therapy – exploring the stories that shape our lives and creating space for new meanings.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – learning to accept thoughts and feelings while moving toward what truly matters.

  • Somatic Approaches – working with the body to restore safety, presence, and connection.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) – supporting the brain and body to heal from traumatic or distressing memories.

  • Polyvagal-Informed Therapy – helping regulate the nervous system to build a greater sense of calm and safety.

  • Play, Art and/or Dance Movement Therapy – using movement and creative expression as pathways to healing and self-discovery.

Sessions may include conversation, mindful movement, or quiet reflection—whatever best supports your process in a way that feels safe, authentic, and empowering.

About me

Drawing on a long-standing career as a social worker, (counsellor/advocate, clinical supervisor), I bring deep compassion, cultural sensitivity, and clinical expertise to my work in counselling and psychotherapy. My postgraduate studies in counselling are complemented by extensive training across a range of therapeutic modalities.

I have worked with individuals across all stages of life—from children as young as four, through adolescence, adulthood, and into later life—within diverse multicultural and multifaith communities. My practice is grounded in trauma-informed care, with a strong focus on supporting people in their recovery from trauma and in addressing the mental health challenges that can arise from these experiences.

I believe that healing is a deeply individual process. My integrative approach honours each person’s story, body, and cultural background, creating a space for resilience, reconnection, and growth. Whether through healing conversation, movement, or structure practices, I aim to walk alongside clients as they reclaim their inner strength and rediscover a sense of wholeness.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, I am able to offer counselling and psychotherapy to Spanish-speaking clients, ensuring that language and cultural understanding support a safe and inclusive therapeutic experience.
