About me

With over 30 years of experience as a social worker, I bring deep compassion, cultural sensitivity, and clinical expertise to my work in counselling and psychotherapy. My postgraduate studies in counselling are supported by extensive training across a range of therapeutic modalities.
I have worked with individuals across all stages of life—from children as young as four, through adolescence, adulthood, and into later life—within diverse multicultural and multifaith communities. My practice is grounded in trauma-informed care, with a strong focus on supporting people in their recovery from trauma and in addressing the mental health challenges that can arise from these experiences.
I believe that healing is a deeply individual process. My integrative approach honours each person’s story, body, and cultural background, creating a space for resilience, reconnection, and growth. Whether through conversation, movement, or stillness, I aim to walk alongside clients as they reclaim their inner strength and rediscover a sense of wholeness.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, I am able to offer counselling and psychotherapy to Spanish-speaking clients, ensuring that language and cultural understanding support a safe and inclusive therapeutic experience.
If you’re seeking a safe and supportive space to explore your experiences, make sense of challenges, or simply reconnect with yourself, I welcome you to reach out. Together, we can work gently and at your pace toward healing, balance, and renewed clarity. I offer a compassionate environment where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change in your life.
FAQ
What is the counselling approach?
We use movement-focused approaches to support healing in the body, helping you process challenging life experiences in a way that feels safe and manageable. Sessions might include gentle stretching, mindful movement, or simple exercises—you only ever do what you feel comfortable with.
Are sessions online or in-person?
Counselling sessions can be offered both online and face to face across diverse client and ages.
Who can benefit from counselling?
Steps to Healing services support individuals, couples, and families of all genders and cultural backgrounds, across all life stages—from children as young as 4 to older adults. We focus on diverse emotional needs, providing a safe and inclusive space for healing and growth.
Somatic counselling is a type of therapy that focuses on the connection between your mind and body. It helps you become aware of how emotions and past experiences are held in your body—like tension, tightness, or restlessness—and supports healing through gentle, body-based practices. For example, during a session, you might:
Notice and explore physical sensations related to stress or memories.
Practice gentle breathing or movement exercises to release tension.
Use guided exercises, stretching, or mindful movement to feel safer and more grounded in your body.
The goal is to help you feel more comfortable, present, and safe in your own body, while processing emotions and experiences in a way that words alone might not fully capture.
Somatic counselling incorporates body awareness in healing.
